Online Grocery Shopping is Moving In an Upward Direction - 01-02
2015-06-02
As consumer behavior shifts due to the rapid surge of new, exciting technologies that can assist in everyday life, we are now seeing stellar growth in an industry once limited to brick-and-mortar storefronts. As discussed by Michelle Coté of MyWebGrocer at the 2015 Sweets & Snacks Expo in Chicago, IL, the online grocery-shopping model is booming with 34% revenue growth year over year. Breaking down the data that includes companies like Peapods, Amazon Fresh, Walmart, Instacart, and many others, the average shopping basket for online grocery orders is $157 and contains between 50-53 items. The most avid users of such services are millennial’s, Generation Z, and Generation X who are rather tech savvy and posses a disposable income of around $20,000 - $30, 000 per year.
